In a world obsessed with productivity, as a human who has always struggled to keep up with the demand of it, I understand the allure of Ai.
They say if you want attention, you need to post every day. Multiple times a day. They say if you want people to know who you are, you need to create more... more... MORE.
The problem with that ideology - that "need" - is that it can be nearly impossible to make it happen. Especially for people who have neuro-differences that scream more loudly in protest of a world constantly demanding production and performance.
So when Ai comes along - with its siren call, its promises to write blog posts for you "in your voice," its promises to post, to market for you at a mere fraction of the cost, to make sure you are seen amidst the noise of a very noisy world - for many people that is an incredibly tempting proposition.
What I wouldn't give, some days, to have something to bridge the gap between my style of creation, my energy levels, and the world at large.
The problem is - it is, in fact, a siren call.
We don't need more productivity.
We don't need more sales.
We don't need more ways to serve the capitalistic beast.
What we need is more humanity.
More messiness.
More imperfection.
More learning to move at our own pace.
And there is nothing authentic or real about what Ai "creates" - even when there seems to be.
There may not be an upfront cost - at least not the same as it would take to hire an assistant, an artist, a team -
but we've lost the plot in thinking that financial cost is the only cost to be considered.
The moral cost, the cost to our world, the cost to our humanity, the cost of not being ourselves - is far greater than so many can yet see.
And in the name of "productivity," of "performance," so many are selling their voices, their names, their creativity, their intelligence, and their souls - without even realising the depth of what they do.
